Bram van Alphen
Director Bram van Alphen (1975) was born and raised in the scenic southern Dutch mountains. As a child, Bram had a hazy view of the world, often relying on his other senses and his strong gut instinct. When he finally received his (terrible) glasses, the sky opened up for him. Yet, despite clearer vision, his small beer belly often led the way.
After design school, Bram pursued Media Design at the School of the Arts. His journey through design and craftsmanship eventually led him to the world of film and photography. Graduating with a Master of Arts, he joined the production house of director Thed Lenssen. Starting as a young trainee, he absorbed Yoda-like wisdom from Thed, lessons that still resonate with him today.
Bram’s signature style is rooted in his design background, combined with a love for visual storytelling and a keen observation of human life. His work includes notable projects for Pearle, Pepsi, and Hertog Jan. Advertisements like Nph and the Nederlandse Armed Forces showcase his ability to blend pure realism with a touch of surreal poetry. These works have won awards at the ADCN, earning him the title of Best Director in 2019. In the summer of 2021, he was again awarded Best Director at the ADCN for a music video for the band Haevn. Bram’s clear vision and artistic approach ensure outstanding results in every project.
